Al Ain Residency Department Celebrates Zayed Humanitarian Day

Concludes the Ramadan Field Challenge

The Al Ain Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs Department marked Zayed Humanitarian Day, in memory of the noble deeds of the late sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and promote humanitarian work and national duty.


Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi, Director of the Residency and Foreigners' Affairs Center in Al Ain said: “This annual celebration is an opportunity for the UAE to recall the life of the founding father, Sheikh Zayed and to commemorate his spirit of philanthropy and his humanitarian initiatives, donations and assistance to the world’s needy, to alleviate the suffering of individuals and communities in response to crises and disasters.” He added: “Marking this solemn occasion is our way to express our gratitude and pay tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed’s vision and wisdom, and to continue his humanitarian legacy inside the UAE and abroad.” 


The department also concluded the fourth season of the Ramadan competition, which coincides with this auspicious occasion, which witnessed the participation of a number of companies and government institutions in the city of Al Ain. The final match took place between Bin Khaled Al Nahyan Cultural Center’s team and the Al Ain Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization who was crowned champion of the championship’s fourth edition.


Topics of the final day of the competition were derived from the life of His Highness, the late Sheikh             Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The cultural competition included questions about His Highness’s deeds and stances, the most important stages of his life, the projects he achieved, and his humanitarian positions on the national and Arab levels.


A photo exhibition was held on the sidelines of the event, which included a set of rare photos of the late Sheikh Zayed, and old newspaper clippings documenting the most important historic positions of Sheikh Zayed, his tours, and his support of developmental projects by the UAE since the establishment of the Union.


A series of valuable collection of rare coins minted during the reign of Sheikh Zayed were also exhibited, representing some of the most important national and historical events witnessed by the country. A book collection was also displayed at the exhibition, showcasing the life of the late Sheikh Zayed since he assumed power in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi; his efforts to achieve  progress in the emirate,  the first stages of his vision to lay down the building blocks of the Union until it saw the light  and earned its prestigious position on the international map, ultimately becoming one of the most important regional countries, which support all humanitarian issues on the Arab and international levels. During the ceremony, attendees watched a set of documentary films that highlighted the life of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his different humanitarian stances and deeds throughout his reign.              


This year’s participant teams include the Al Ain Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs Department; Al Ain Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization; Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC); Al Ain Police Directorate; Al Ain Traffic and Patrols section; and the Community Police Section. Also participating were the Social Support Centers; Dar Zayed Family Care; the Al Ain Naturalization Section; Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC); Al Ain Municipality; Al Ain Courts; Al Ain Transport; the  Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural Center; and the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority.


Towards the end of the ceremony, Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi honored the winning team, the second place winner, and the government departments and institutions that participated in the competition. The honoring ceremony was attended by Colonel Mohammad Seif Al Nabhani, Deputy Director of the Residency and Foreigners' Affairs Center in Al Ain and a number of officers.
